This morning Facebook announced Timeline, a crazy (and kind of creepy) omnibus look at everything that has ever happened in your Facebook lifespan. It’s like a story book of your life — or at least the online, documented parts.
Facebook said that Timeline would be on the way for everyone sometime in the coming weeks… which is great and all, for everyone else. You’re the type of person who reads TechCrunch, and are thus likely the type of person who likes their new and shiny things right now.
That’s okay. We can make it happen.
Fortunately, enabling Timeline a bit early isn’t too difficult — but it’s not at all straight forward, either.
You see, Facebook is enabling Timeline early for open graph developers. You, too, can be an open graph developer — even if you’re just looking to dabble
A few things to note:
- You probably don’t want to do this unless you’re actually a developer. Expect bugs.
- Only you will see your timeline at first (unless you decide otherwise), but it will automatically go public after a few days. My timeline was automatically hard-set to go public on September 29th.
- It seems that if you login into Facebook on another machine, Timeline gets disabled automatically on all of your machines. With that said, it seems you can get back to your timeline (but ONLY after following the steps below) by navigating to http://www.facebook.com/YOURUSERNAMEHERE?sk=timeline
- You’ll need to have a “verified” account for one of the steps, which means you need a credit card or phone number attached to the account.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Log into Facebook
2. Enable developer mode, if you haven’t already. To do this, type “developer” into the Facebook search box, click the first result (it should be an app made by Facebook with a few hundred thousand users), and add the app.
3. Jump into the developer app (if Facebook doesn’t put you there automatically, it should be in your left-hand tool bar)
4. Create a new app (don’t worry — you wont actually be submitting this for anyone else to see/use). Give your shiny new app any display name and namespace you see fit. Read through and agree to the Platform Privacy agreement. This is the step you need to be verified for.
5. Ensure you’re in your new app’s main settings screen. You should see your app’s name near the top of the page
6. Look for the “Open Graph” header, and click the “Get Started using open graph” link.
Create a test action for your app, like “read” a “book”, or “eat” a “sandwich”
7. This should drop you into an action type configuration page. Change a few of the default settings (I changed the past tense of “read” to “redd” — again, only you can see this unless you try and submit your application to the public directory), and click through all three pages of settings
8. Wait 2-3 minutes
9. Go back to your Facebook homescreen. An invite to try Timeline should be waiting at the top of the page
And you’re done! We’ve seen this work quite a few times now, so it should work without a hitch for just about anyone.

Some facts about Congress people
A daring letter by an IIT'an to Rahul Gandhi. Plz read .
.
(HOPE EVERY ONE KNOW THIS ..)
A REPLY LETTER WRITTEN BY:
NITIN GUPTA (RIVALDO)
B. Tech, IIT Bombay
ON Rahul Gandhi: "I feel ashamed to call myself an INDIAN after seeing
what has happened here in UP".
Dear Rahul,
YOU REALLY WANT TO FEEL ASHAMED???????
But don't be disappointed, I would give you ample reasons to feel
ashamed... You really want to feel Ashamed..?
* First Ask Pranav Mukherjee, Why isn't he giving the details of
the account holders in the Swiss Banks.
* Ask your Mother, Who is impeding the Investigation against
Hasan Ali?
* Ask her, Who got 60% Kickbacks in the 2G Scam ?
* Kalamadi is accused of a Few hundred Crores, Who Pocketed the
Rest in the Common Wealth Games?
* Ask Praful Patel what he did to the Indian Airlines? Why did
Air India let go of the Profitable Routes ?
* Why should the Tax Payer pay for the Air India losses, when
you intend to eventually DIVEST IT ANYWAY!!!
* Also, You People can't run an Airline Properly. How can we
expect you to run the Nation?
* Ask Manmohan Singh. Why/What kept him quiet for so long?
* Are Kalmadi and A Raja are Scapegoats to save Big Names like
Harshad Mehta was in the 1992 Stock Market Scandal ?
* Who let the BHOPAL GAS TRAGEDY Accused go Scot Free? (20,000
People died in that Tragedy)
* Who ordered the State Sponsored Massacre of SIKHS in 84?
* Please read more about, How Indira Gandhi pushed the Nation
Under Emergency in 76-77, after the HC declared her election to Lok
Sabha Void!
* WHY ONLY HIGHLIGHT THIS ARREST?
Dear Rahul, to refresh your memory, you were arrested/detained by the
FBI the BOSTON Airport in September 2001.
You were carrying with you $ 1,60,000 in Cash. You couldn't explain why
you were carrying so much Cash.
(Incidentally He was with his Columbian girlfriend Veronique Cartelli,
ALLEGEDLY, the Daughter of Drug Mafia. 9 HOURS he was kept at the
Airport. Later then freed on the intervention of the then Prime Minister
Mr. Vajpayee.. FBI filed an equivalent of an FIR in US and released him.
When FBI was asked to divulge the information, by Right/Freedom to
Information Activists about the reasons Rahul was arrested ...
FBI asked for a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from Rahul Gandhi.
So Subramaniyam Swami wrote a Letter to Rahul Gandhi, " If you have
NOTHING to HIDE, Give us the Permission"
HE NEVER REPLIED!)
Why did that arrest not make Headlines Rahul? You could have gone to the
Media and told, "I am ashamed to call myself an INDIAN?".
Or is it that, you only do like to highlight Symbolic Arrests (like in
UP) and not Actual Arrests (In BOSTON)
Kindly Clarify.....In any case, you want to feel ashamed, Read Along...
YOUR MOTHER'S SO CALLED SACRIFICE OF GIVING UP PRIME MINISTERSHIP in
2004.
According to a Provision in the Citizenship Act, A Foreign National who
becomes a Citizen of India, is bounded by the same restrictions,
which an Indian would face, If he/she were to become a Citizen of Italy.
(Condition based on principle of reciprocity)
Now Since you can't become a PM in Italy, Unless you are born there.
Likewise an Italian Citizen can't become Indian PM,
unless He/She is not born here!
Dr. SUBRAMANIYAM SWAMI (The Man who Exposed the 2G Scam) sent a letter
to the PRESIDENT OF INDIA bringing the same to his Notice.
PRESIDENT OF INDIA sent a letter to Sonia Gandhi to this effect, 3:30
PM, May 17th, 2004.
Swearing Ceremony was scheduled for 5 PM the same Day. Manmohan Singh
was brought in the Picture at the last moment to Save Face!!
Rest of the SACRIFICE DRAMA which she choreographed was an EYE WASH!!!
In fact Sonia Gandhi had sent, 340 letters, each signed by different MP
to the PRESIDENT KALAM, supporting her candidacy for PM.
One of those letters read, "I Sonia Gandhi, elected Member from Rai
Bareli, hereby propose Sonia Gandhi as Prime Minister."
So SHE was Pretty INTERESTED! Until She came to know the Facts! She
didn't make any Sacrifice, It so happens that SONIA GANDHI
couldn't have become the PM of INDIA that time.
You could be Ashamed about that Dear Rahul!! One Credential Sonia G had,
Even that was a HOAX!
THINK ABOUT YOURSELF.
You go to Harvard on Donation Quota. ( Hindujas Gave HARVARD 11 million
dollars the same year, when Rajiv Gandhi was in Power)
Then you are expelled in 3 Months/ You Dropped out in 3 Months....
(Sadly Manmohan Singh wasn't the Dean of Harvard that time, else
you might have had a chance... Too Bad, there is only one Manmohan
Singh!)
Then Why did you go about lying about being Masters in Economics from
Harvard .. before finally taking it off your Resume upon questioning
by Dr. SUBRAMANIYAM SWAMI (The Gentlemen who exposed the 2G Scam)
At St. Stephens.. You Fail the Hindi Exam. Hindi Exam!!!
And you are representing the Biggest Hindi Speaking State of the
Country?
SONIA GANDHI's EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Sonia G gave a sworn affidavit as a Candidate that She Studied English
at University of Cambridge
According to Cambridge University, there is no such Student EVER! Upon
a Case by Dr. Subramaniyam Swami filed against her, She subsequently
Dropped the CAMBRIDGE CREDENTIAL from her Affidavit.
Sonia Gandhi didn't even pass High School. She is just 5th class Pass!
In this sense, She shares a common Educational Background with her 2G
Partner
In Crime, Karunanidhi.
You Fake your Educational Degree, Your Mother Fakes her Educational
Degree. And then you go out saying, " We want Educated Youth into
Politics!"
WHY LIE ABOUT EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS?
Not that Education is a Prerequisite for being a great Leader, but then
you shouldn't have lied about your qualifications!
You could feel a little ashamed about Lying about your Educational
Qualifications. You had your reasons I know, Because in India, WE
RESPECT
EDUCATION!
But who cares about Education, When you are a Youth Icon!!
YOUTH ICON
You traveled in the Local Train for the first time at the Age of 38.
You went to some Villages as a part of Election Campaign. And You won a
Youth Icon!! ... That's why You are my Youth Icon.
For 25 Million People travel by Train Every day. You are the First
Person to win a Youth Icon for boarding a Train.
Thousands of Postmen go to remotest of Villages. None of them have yet
gotten a Youth Icon. You were neither YOUNG Nor ICONIC!
Still You became a Youth Icon beating Iconic and Younger Contenders like
RAHUL DRAVID.
SURNAME
Shakespeare said, What's in a Name?
Little did he knew, It's all in the Name, Especially the Surname!
Speaking of Surname, Sir DO YOU REALLY RESPECT GANDHI, OR IS IT JUST TO
CASH IN ON THE GOODWILL OF MAHATMA?
Because the Name on your Passport is RAUL VINCI. Not RAHUL GANDHI..
May be if you wrote your Surname as Gandhi, you would have experienced,
what Gandhi feels like, LITERALLY ( Pun Intended)
You People don't seem to use Gandhi much, except when you are fighting
Elections. ( There it makes complete sense).
Imagine fighting elections by the Name Raul Vinci...
You use the name GANDHI at will and then say, " Mujhe yeh YUVRAJ shabd
Insulting lagta hai! Kyonki aaj Hindustan mein Democracy hai, aur is
shabd
ka koi matlab nahin hai! YUVRAJ, Itna hi Insulting lagta hai, to lad lo
RAUL VINCI ke Naam se!!! Jin Kisano ke saath photo khinchate ho woh bhi
isliye entertain karte hain ki GANDHI ho.. RAUL VINCI bol ke Jao... Ghar
mein nahin ghusaenge!!!
You could feel ashamed for your Double Standards.
YOUTH INTO POLITICS.
Now You want Youth to Join Politics.
I say First you Join Politics. Because you haven't Joined Politics. You
have Joined a Family Business.
First you Join Politics. Win an Election fighting as RAUL VINCI and Not
Rahul Gandhi, then come and ask the youth and the Educated Brass for
more
involvement in Politics.
Also till then, Please don't give me examples of Sachin Pilot and Milind
Deora and Naveen Jindal as youth who have joined Politics. They are not
Politicians. They Just happen to be Politicians.
Much Like Abhishek Bachchan and other Star Sons are not Actors. They
just happen to be Actors (For Obvious Reasons)
So, We would appreciate if you stop requesting the Youth to Join
Politics till you establish your credentials...
WHY WE CAN'T JOIN POLITICS!
Rahul Baba, Please understand, Your Father had a lot of money in your
Family account ( in Swiss Bank) when he died.
Ordinary Youth has to WORK FOR A LIVING. YOUR FAMILY just needs to
NETWORK FOR A LIVING
If our Father had left thousands of Crores with us, We might consider
doing the same. But we have to Work. Not just for ourselves.
But also for you. So that we can pay 30% of our Income to the Govt.
which can then be channelized to the Swiss Banks and your Personal
Accounts under
some Pseudo Names.
So Rahul, Please don't mind If the Youth doesn't Join Politics.
We are doing our best to fund your Election Campaigns and your Chopper
Trips to the Villages.
Somebody has to Earn the Money that Politicians Feed On.
NO WONDER YOU ARE NOT GANDHIs. YOU ARE SO CALLED GANDHIs!!
Air India, KG Gas Division, 2G, CWG, SWISS BANK Account Details... Hasan
Ali, KGB., FBI Arrest..
You want to feel ashamed..?
Feel Ashamed for what the First Family of Politics has been reduced
to... A Money Laundering Enterprise.
NO WONDER YOU ARE NOT GANDHI'S BY BLOOD. GANDHI is an adopted Name. For
Indira didn't marry Mahatma Gandhi's Son.
For even if you had one GENE OF GANDHI JI in your DNA. YOU WOULDN'T HAVE
BEEN PLAGUED BY SUCH 'POVERTY OF AMBITION'
(Ambition of only EARNING MONEY)
You really want to feel Ashamed?
Feel Ashamed for what you ' SO CALLED GANDHI'S' have done to MAHATMA'S
Legacy..
I so wish GANDHI JI had Copyrighted his Name!
Meanwhile, I would request Sonia Gandhi to change her name to $ONIA
GANDHI, and you could replace
the 'R' in RAHUL/RAUL by the New Rupee Symbol!!!
RAUL VINCI : I am ashamed to call myself an Indian.
Even we are ashamed to call you so!
P.S: Popular Media is either bought or blackmailed, controlled to
Manufacture Consent! My Guess is Social Media is still a Democratic
Platform.
(Now they are trying to put legislations to censor that too!!).
Meanwhile, Let's ask these questions, for we deserve some Answers.
YOURS SINCERELY

Ten most corrupt Indian politicians : Excl
While everyone has been animatedly supporting Anna Hazare's fight against corruption, people seem to have forgotten who the people are who actually led to this situation.
The peak of irony was when Anna was, allegedly, lodged in the same jail that housed the people who were responsible for two of the biggest scams in the country ever. How must the authorities have felt when they saw Raja and Kalmadi fill their plates while Anna was on a fast because of their misdeeds?
Corruption has become an unavoidable part of politics and every now and then, one or the other politician re-affirms this fact.
Here is our pick of the 10 most corrupt politicians of India.
Suresh Kalmadi
Suresh Kalmadi, almost single handedly caused a loss of hundreds of crores of rupees to the country. The Commonwealth Games, organized by Kalmadi was no less than a loot with numerous reports of the magnum opus event being soaked in corruption making headlines way before the Games had even started. Apparently, out of Rs. 70000 crores spent on the Games, only half of the amount was actually spent. Owing to his involvement in the scam, Kalmadi was charged with corruption and sent to Tihar jail
A. Raja
A scam worth Rs. 176,000 crore had former Union Cabinet Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Andimuthu Raja at the centre. A. Raja as he is generally called, was the prime accused in the 2G spectrum scam, which was the largest that the country had seen in a long time. Following the shocking exposure, Raja was indicted and forced to resign. Presently, he is too has been lodged at the Tihar jail and is awaiting his trial.
Mayawati
Mayawati has always been criticized for ostentatious display of power in her state. She has allegedly used her status as chief minister to amass large amounts of personal wealth. She was charged with corruption when the Taj Heritage Corridor Case was uncovered. Mayawati's birthdays have always been media events, where she usually appears decked in diamond jewellery and also accepts public donations for which, she often comes under fire. Her assets are worth millions of dollars and in the year 2007-08, she had paid an income tax of Rs. 26 crores, which placed her amongst the top 20 taxpayers of the year
Lalu Prasad Yadav
The fact that Lalu Prasad Yadav has been an accused in 63-odd cases serves for the fact that Lalu stands as one of the strongest competitor in the list. The biggest scam that rocked Lalu's political career was the fodder scam which involved the embezzlement of Rs. 950 crore approximately. The accusation of nepotism against him has come up time and again but hardly any action has been taken against him owing to his 'connections' in the government
Madhu Koda
Former Jharkand Chief Minister, and only the third independent legislator to assume the office of chief minister in India, Madhu Koda was responsible for a scam worth over Rs. 4000 crore. The man exploited the state's natural resources by licensing illegal mining leases and stashing away the wealth amassed during the undertaking. Furthermore, the Maoists received a 30% share of the booty. Koda was arrested on charges of money laundering and is still in prison following the rejection of numerous bail applications.
Mulayam Singh Yadav
Mulayam Singh Yadav is also known as one of the most corrupt ministers in the country despite not being directly involved in any major scams. Apart from his name being involved in appointments of tainted officers and mishandling of his power as chief minister, Mulayam Singh had one major allegation levelled against him-accumulation of disproportionate assets. The case drew limelight on his sons and daughter-in-law as they too were holders of the assests that amounted to crores of rupees.
Karunanidhi
The corruptions charges against M. Karunanidhi are so many that he is often referred to as the king or emperor of corruption. He was accused of lending support to the LTTE and was indicted for abetting the LTTE in the interim report which oversaw the investigation into Rajiv Gandhi's assassination.Karunanidhi reportedly institutionalized corruption in the South. He was a leading player in the cash for votes scams that are common in the southern region, as well as notorious foe extreme nepotism shown under his rule. Not so surprising, is the fact that the main accused in the 2G scam, A, Raja, considers him to be his mentor
Sharad Pawar
Very few people can miss the cosy relationship that Sharad Pawar shares with power and money.Every now and then, Pawar draws flak for alleged investments made by him and his family in various illegal projects. He was named by Abdul Karim Telgi, during a narcoanalysis test, stating that it was Pawar's brainchild to print fake stamp papers across the country and mint money. He was also accused in a multi-crore scam involving wheat imports and institutions headed by him and his close associates were served notices by the Bombay High Court for showing favoritism to his family.
Jayalalitha
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has a staggering 46 corruption cases against her. Amongst the various scams were the Rs. 70 million coal import scam, Tansi land deal case, case of disproportionate assets and colour TV case, amongst many others. A raid in her residence and business establishments led to the seizure of some 28 kg of jewellery (worth Rs 51 crore), 91 wrist-watches, 41 air-conditioners, 10,500 sarees, 750 pairs of footwears, etc. She along with her former cabinet colleagues and senior bureaucrats who worked with her are still facing investigation with regard to corruption.
B. S. Yeddyurappa
former Chief Minister of Karnataka, B. S. Yeddyurappa. While he has a number of corruption lying against him, the one that toppled his career was his alleged involvement in the illegal iron ore export scam in districts of Karnataka. A lot of blame game followed and ended up with Yeddyurappa losing his ministerial post last month. Despite his denial, his image as one of the most corrupt politicians of the country will not fade anytime soon.

Second recession could be more painful than the first
The Great Recession of 2007 that rocked the entire globe might have compelled many jobless to take up the drastic step of committing suicide. But, the recent warnings by the economists claim that if the economy falls back into recession now, exorcising of its demons could be a lot more painful than the last time.“It would be disastrous if we entered into a recession at this stage, given that we haven’t yet made up for the last recession,” said Conrad DeQuadros, senior economist at RDQ Economics.
In a quick response, US president Barack Obama said that the country’s “urgent mission” now was to expand the economy and create jobs. US Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner said in an interview on CNBC on Sunday, Aug 7 that the United States had “a lot of work to do” because of its “long-term and unsustainable fiscal position". In fact, the policy makers used most of the economic tools at their disposal to combat the last recession, and have few options available.
During the last recession, the employers had shed all the extra work shifts and weak or extraneous employees that they could. As shown by unusually strong productivity gains, companies are now squeezing as much work as they can from their newly “lean and mean” work forces. Should a recession return, it is not clear how many additional workers' businesses could lay off and still manage to function. With fewer jobs and fewer hours logged, there is less income for households to spend, creating a huge obstacle for a consumer-driven economy.
“There are only so many times the Fed can pull this same rabbit out of its hat,” said Torsten Slok, the chief international economist at Deutsche Bank. “There is no approachable precedent, at least in the postwar era, for what happens when an economy with 9 percent unemployment falls back into recession,” said Nigel Gault, chief United States economist at IHS Global Insight. “The one precedent you might consider is 1937, when there was also a premature withdrawal of fiscal stimulus, and the economy fell into another recession more painful than the first.”
“In the financial crisis, when markets were freezing up, the first response was, ‘I’ve got to get some cash,’ ” said Neal Soss, the chief economist at Credit Suisse. “The fastest way to get cash is to not have a weekly payroll, so that’s why we saw such big layoffs.”

Upload And Share Files Upto 2GB On Facebook With Filefly
Facebook serves a recreational purpose for the most part and features like photo sharing, events and chat make it easier for us to justify the large amounts of time we invest on the site. What would have really increased the usefulness of Facebook ten time; a simple file sharing feature. Facebook never added one and focused on ‘improving’ the photo viewer instead. Well, file sharing still hasn’t been added as an official feature, instead there is Filefly; a Facebook app that lets you store and share files on Facebook. The app has a 2GB limit, all uploaded files cannot collectively exceed 2GB. Folders can be created and shared with friends and you can delete the files any time you like.
To add a new folder, open the app, a default folder name with your Profile Name and the current date is already added, you can edit it by clicking Set title. Click the Add files button and start uploading files. You can upload multiple files at the same time.
By default, all files and folders are hidden from your friends. In order to allow friends to view uploaded files, you need to share the folder with them. To share a folder, click the Invite friends button and pick who you want to share it with
Your friends will receive a request in their Facebook notifications, they will of course have to grant the app permission to view and download the files you’ve shared. And of course, you can comment on the folders, it just wouldn’t be a Facebook app without a comment feature

If you heard about Microsoft's upcoming social network Tulalip, here is another! After being banned form Google's latest social networking site Google Plus, the notorious hacker group Anonymous has announced the launch of their own social networking site dubbed as AnonPlus. The public has spoken: current Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag as well as former players Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar have been named in the Great All Time Test XI chosen in an online poll. Sehwag and Gavaskar took both the openers' slots. They beat competition from the likes of Geoffrey Boycott, Jack Hobbs, Len Hutton, Hanif Mohammad and Herbert Sutcliffe.
Two West Indians, one Pakistani and four Aussies also made it to Peoples' Dream XI as more than 250,000 people voted on ICC's official website as part of the lead-in to the England-India Test match at Lord's to celebrate the 2000th cricket Test.
Tendulkar secured the no. 4 batting spot, one slot down Australian legend Don Bradman and one above West Indian Brian Lara, who was chosen at number five. The three beat the likes of Greg Chappell, Wally Hammond, George Headley, Javed Miandad, Graeme Pollock, Ricky Ponting and Vivian Richards.
Kapil was chosen as the only all-rounder ahead of the likes of Ian Botham, Richard Hadlee, Jacques Kallis, Imran Khan, Gary Sobers and Frank Worrell.
Australian Adam Gilchrist made it into the team as wicket-keeper by beating the likes of Mark Boucher, Jeff Dujon and Rod Marsh while Shane Warne got the approval of online voters, beating out India's Bishen Bedi and Anil Kumble and Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan.
Wasim Akram, Curtly Ambrose and Glenn McGrath were named in the three fast bowlers' slots. The likes of Michael Holding, Dennis Lillee, Malcolm Marshall and Courtney Walsh missed out

Microsoft entering the social networking domain?
Internet giant Microsoft may soon be a player in the social domain. First spotted by fusible.com, going to socl.com reveals a landing page for a new social networking site where users can log in with their Facebook or Twitter accounts. As of now, logging on to the site displays a message that reads, "Thanks for stopping by. Socl.com is an internal design project from a team in Microsoft Research, which was mistakenly published to the web. We didn't mean to, honest."
The service supposedly called "Tulalip" sounds like a real tongue twister but sounds catchy at the same time.
How Microsoft plans to makes its name in the social networking circle still remains to be seen. The fact that you can log in with your Facebook or Twitter account eliminates the need for you to have a separate login account all together.
As of today, Microsoft's gaming hardware, the XBOX 360 is a market leader when it comes to social networking on gaming consoles with Twitter and Facebook integration on the consoles XBOX Live service.
Facebook is still the largest social networking group with over 750 million subscribers. Google Plus recently launched by the search giant already has an install base of over 10 million users.

Google+ Ad On Facebook Is Banned
What happens on Google+, stays on Google+. At least that’s the way Facebook would like to see things. Web developer Michael Lee Johnson found that out the hard way. He was trolling for Google+ friends on Facebook by running a Facebook ad asking people to add him to their Circles on Google+. Facebook, apparently, did not like him using its site to build his own social network somewhere else. So it pulled his ads. He writes on Google+:
I recently ran a Google+ advertisement on Facebook that got all of my campaigns suspended. – Great.
Yeah, Facebook frowns on people promoting competing products with Facebook ads. It’s even in its Terms of Service. But seriously, where else is he going to find friends for Google+?

1,000 Days until Windows XP End of Life
In 1,000 days Microsoft will pull the plug on the operating system which it released back in 2001 and that still dominates the OS market.
The aging platform is already a decade old, almost, and will still pile up another three years, but come 2014, the Redmond company will discontinue all support for Windows XP.
XP is even now running on what some might interpret as borrowed time, since the software giant already retired Mainstream Support for the operating system.
On April 8, 2014, Microsoft will also no longer provide Extended Support for XP, which gives users little chance but to make the jump to another OS.
“On April 8, 2014, security patches and hotfixes for all versions of Windows XP will no longer be available. So bottom line, PC’s running Windows XP will be vulnerable to security threats,” revealed Microsoft’s Stephen L Rose.
“Furthermore, many third party software providers are not planning to extend support for their applications running on Windows XP, which translates to even more complexity, security risks, and ultimately, added management costs for your IT department if you’re still managing Windows XP environments.”
End of support is nothing short of a death sentence for XP. Make no mistake about it, XP can be considered obsolete even today, despite the fact that it’s still undisputed king of the OS market.
My personal prediction is that XP will lose its crown soon enough, even ahead of Windows 8’s launch, to Windows 7.
For those users that want to stick to Windows, the only viable alternative to XP for the time being is Windows 7. Even by the most optimistic estimates, Windows 8, the next major iteration of Windows, is approximately a year away.
Service Pack 3 (SP3) was the last upgrade provided to 32-bit (x86) XP, and similarly, SP2 was the last for 64-bit (x64) flavor of the platform. Microsoft will no longer release any additional service packs for Windows XP.

Zuckerberg closes off his Google+ account
Wasn't it only a week ago that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was explaining to us yet again that we're all sharing more and more things with more and more people because we need to spread more and more of our love around the world?
And wasn't it mere days ago that he became the most followed human being on Google+?
I feel sullied beyond my normal coping mechanisms to tell you that he suddenly seems to have closed off his Google+ account from public eyes and disappeared from the Google+ popularity charts.
The Inquirer seems to have been the first to notice that Facebook's CEO has become curiously coy.
Moreover, Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten, the stat man for Social Statistics, which gleefully presented the first results of Google+'s most-followed humans, offered that Zuckerberg was not alone in Coyville: "Mark Zuckerberg and Google management (Matt Cutts, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Vic Gundotra, and Marissa Mayer) all changed their profiles overnight and consequently dropped out of the Google+ top 100 list!"
Some may be pained at this news. They might have viewed Zuckerberg's entry and popularity as a fine Trojan horse infiltrating Google's new playground. I did, indeed, contact Facebook to see whether there might be some official explanation for this depressing, Howard Hughesian moment. This is the company's most cryptic reply: "We're in the early days of making the Web more social, and there are opportunities for innovation everywhere."
Of course, there will be some who will marvel at the lovely mental compartmentalization of someone who last year cheerily made lists of Facebook friends terribly public, thereby exempting them (until the usual uproar) from privacy settings. On Google+, however, we have no idea who Zuckerberg's friends might now be. (Oh, look. The Google+ default is to make your friends public, too.)
A few might be cheered, however, that Zuckerberg appears to have replaced the rather deer-in-the-camera-lights picture he had originally posted to Google+ with something more relaxed, more dignified, more brand-appropriate.
He's smiling now, you see. He doesn't fear Google+ anymore. He's just worried what some people might want to share with him, that's all.
